Choose the track that matches your work
Choose based on your job responsibilities or use case. Some builders may pursue more than one track. Separate exam preparation guides will provide detailed objectives, domain weightings, study topics, and rules.
Data Engineer
Most of your work is south of the Ontology. Design and troubleshoot complex data systems at scale, from ingestion and transformation through data contracts, access controls, production publication, and failure tracing.
Application Developer
Most of your work is north of the Ontology. Design and own a production Foundry application end to end, including its object model, data-access boundary, API contracts, client experience, security, deployment, and verification plan.
AI Engineer
You build AIP workflows across the platform. Design and own production AI systems spanning LLM and agent applications, predictive and hybrid models, evaluation, observability, safeguards, and automation.
Three stages of Palantir certification
The program begins with a recommended foundation followed by Associate and Specialist certifications. Associate and Specialist credentials remain valid for two years.

- Associate certifications assess foundational, role-specific knowledge. Candidates take these timed, open-book, multiple-choice exams through Palantir’s certification site. - Specialist

Get started with Specialist Exams
Palantir certifications are available to Palantir customers and partners.

Designate a seat manager
Choose one person at your organization to manage registrations, confirmations, and all exam communications.

Submit candidate details
Provide each candidate’s name, email address, and selected track: Data Engineer, Application Developer, or AI Engineer.

Receive exam confirmation
Ontologize will confirm the roster with the seat manager and send calendar invitations for the scheduled session.
